Rovinj

The first thing that happened today is that Tony came back from the showers with his shorts on back to front and I blew the electrics whilst he was having a shower, well it is Friday 13th!

After that debacle we headed for Pula, calling in on Rovinj which we very nearly decided not to bother with and head straight to Pula but am I ever so glad that we decided to visit Rovinj. Rovinj is so lovely and quaint and still a working fishing village. The church of St Euphemia sits on top of the peninsula and the old town is crisscrossed with steep cobbled streets. At the foot of the old town is a Marina lined with restaurants, ice-cream parlours and a few souvenir shops. From what we have seen of Istria so far, Rovinj is the place that I would choose to stay, truly lovely.

We left Rovinj and headed for Pula, for an overnight stop and to visit the Roman Amphitheatre. We arrived at Camping Stoja in the afternoon and took the opportunity to relax on the rocks, take our first dip in the sea and finish off with some sunbathing. Tony and our German neighbours have been comparing the frailties of their vans, Tony complimenting the German engineering and ’Eric’ liking our layout. All very boring but it kept them occupied for an hour! Our pitch is at the end of a peninsula overlooking the sea so we have just been to watch the sun go down, together with about another 20 campers but the sunset was worth it.
