Bike Ride – Rab Island

Our cycle ride today ended up a 4 hour exercise workout, due to the facts that Tony cannot read a map (those of you who have experienced this on various walks, will agree with me!), the map from the tourist office was very vague, the signage was confusing, the cycle paths around the peninsula ranged from very difficult walking terrain to very steep 4 x 4 tracks and no way down to the coves at the end of each track, without scampering down rocks, which we did once! The worst part was having to carry the bikes over the 6 foot tall styles to keep the wildlife in not the cyclist out! At one point we came across the tarmac easy route but then lost it again!

The whole bike ride was very challenging, however if Richard and Linda are reading this, they would have loved it! We must have doubled back on ourselves at least 3 times and sometimes we felt that we had taken our bikes for a walk! We were very pleased to see Rab Town in the distance as this meant that once we got there, we only had another 2km to go!

We are both feeling rather saddle sore tonight and looking forward to a restful evening.

I must apologise for the vivid colours in most of the photos today, I still had my camera set on that setting from last night’s sunset!

We plan to take the ferry back to the mainland tomorrow, only to catch another ferry that will take us to Pag Island and from there we can drive the length of Pag Island and arrive at Zadar on the mainland. (Pag Island is also linked to the mainland by a small road but it is still called an island!)

Just for information, I have been checking the stats on my blog and yesterday I had 98 views from the UK, 36 views from Italy, 32 views from France and 3 views from India. I have had a total of 1,004 views. If you are following the blog I hope you are enjoying it wherever you are and at the end of this trip, I will summarise each place we have visited with any hints and tips should you decide to visit yourselves. Thank you to everyone who has commented, we always look forward to receiving and reading them.

By the way, writing this gets me out of doing the washing up at night, Tony hasn’t sussed it yet!

Is Tony wearing the same shorts every day?
Maybe he could have a blog called “Tony’s pants”.
