Drive to Dubrovnik

Despite our reservations, we had a fabulous meal last night in the campsite restaurant and our tummies have survived! My fish was cooked on an open fire and it was lovely!

We said goodbye to Brac this morning and caught the ferry to the mainland for our drive to Dubrovnik.  We have changed our plans and decided not to visit the Island of Hvar and stayed an extra night on Brac and are now one day ahead of schedule.  The drive along the coast, whilst not as stunning as previous drives was still really picturesque.  We have seen lakes, rivers, flat plains growing lots of fruit and vegetables which are then sold all along the roadside and we passed through 2 borders to get to Dubrovnik, Bosnia Herzegovina and back into Croatia, bizarre!

We have now arrived in Dubrovnik but have not laid eyes on old town Dubrovnik yet as we are staying on a peninsula about 4km away but we have crossed a mega bridge and spotted a huge cruise ship in the ferry port.

We took a walk from Camping Solitude to the beach at the end of the peninsula and had a walk along the coastal path and watched the sunset before heading back for a quiet night in!

And this is why Tony loves Croatia so much!

We plan to venture into Dubrovnik old town early tomorrow in order to beat the crowds, especially those from the cruise ships!

Doubt we will be in Paris until Friday as we may have extra day here in Dubrovnik or use the day to make the drive back a bit easier. Will keep you updated though as it is still a possibility!
