Drive to Bute

We left Carlisle and headed for Wemyss Bay to catch our ferry to the Isle of Bute, passing Glasgow and out along the Clyde estuary. The ferry journey was only 30 minutes long with a calm sea.

After arriving in Rothesay went to the campsite we will be staying at for the next two nights, Roseland Caravan Park which is set up on top of a hill overlooking the countryside at the back of Rothesay.

We walked into Rothesay down a rather winding, twisting and steep road called The Serpentine and then walked along the seafront, found a place to sit outside in the sun and enjoyed a drink.

The walk back up to the campsite was quite an effort for me due to the incline but I made it! We had a rather heavy shower just as we arrived back but that did not deter us from getting the BBQ out!
