Dent & Dentdale

Our planned walk for today was a 5.5 mile route starting and finishing at Dent, taking in Dentdale and the River Dee. The first mile was up a steep stoney path through some woods until we reached the top of Flinter Gill. We then followed another track that took us past Wold End Moss and brought us out opposite Barkin Hill.

We stopped for a break and something to eat and just as we did this, the heavens opened and it poured with rain, so much so that when we got to Dillicar we cut our walk short and took the road back to Gawthrop and the road back into Dent, missing out our walk along the River Dee. It was still raining hard by the time we reached Dent that we even gave up venturing into a pub and to have a walk around the quaint cobbled village of Dent itself.
