Today was not a beach day, unless you were a kite surfer, it was overcast, windy and a bit chilly, making it the perfect day to catch the tram into Alicante and view the city.

Our first stop was Castillo de Santa Barbara, the large 16th-century castle which houses a museum recounting the history of the city and is a great place to take in the fabulous views.

We stopped for lunch in a restaurant in the old town then walked it off visiting the Marina, the old town, the new town and completely circumnavigated the base of the castle!  We walked along the mosaic paving that when you look down gives you the illusion that the paving is raised like a wave but the paving is completely flat to walk on. We found the Bario region just beneath the castle walls. We like Alicante and taking the tram is an easy and convenient way to enter the city.

The weather is not improving for the next 5 days so we will be heading north with a small detour inland on our way today.

Hi Les and Lorrain, thanks for your comments and you can tell Ryan that I have already been researching a trip to Sweden. It is definitely on the agenda but not for this year, it looks a great place to go in the Campervan. Hope you had a great time in Australia, and catch up when we are back. xx

    Hello rose and tony,
alicante brings back good memories for myself and Linda as it’s where we started our 1st holiday together there, shame about the weather, it’s no better here though!
Tony I am dropping a flyer round for our band, we are doing a soul night on Friday 22nd may at the windsor fire station arts centre, it’s tickets only, £10 each and there is only max 110, it will be great if you can come along, get a close night out.
    Speak soon.

Hi Paul, yes, shame about the weather! We would love to come to your soul night but believe it or not we will be away again on 22nd May! We are gutted to be missing it and thanks for giving us the chance to buy a ticket early.
