Pisa

Today we visited Pisa en-route to our next destination just south of Cecina.  We were able to park easily outside the city walls of Pisa and much to Tony and John’s delight, parking was free on Sunday!

We walked through the old town of Pisa and through to the river Arno, before making our way to Piazza dei Miracoli, where you will find the leaning tower of Pisa, The Duomo, Battistero and Composanto, a very pleasant area to visit.   Entrance to the Duomo is free however you still need to gain a ticket from the ticket office to enter at a given time, which we did and admired the gold wooden ceiling.  It was an extremely hot day again today and didn’t feel the need to climb the leaning tower or go into the Battistero (Baptistry) and instead opted for lunch in a small restaurant.  I really liked Pisa, easy to orientate and some beautiful architecture.  I will let the pictures speak for themselves and naturally we had to take the requisite photos of us holding up the tower, along with everyone else that visited today!

We left Pisa and are now at a campsite south of Cecina for another beach day tomorrow before heading into the Tuscany countryside.
