Yesterday we had a day off from sightseeing and spent a day on the beach at Marina di Bibbona, just a short walk from the campsite and through a beautiful pine forest to the beach. The weather was hot and the sea was cold, just right for a bit of sunbathing and then a cooling off. The beach is mixed sand and small pebbles. We returned back to the campsite for an early BBQ and just in time before the heavens opened and we had torrential rain for about an hour which helped to clear the air.
We stayed at camping Free Beach, a reasonable site with mostly bungalows and a smallish area for motorhomes and caravans that at the time of our visit was pretty empty. The campsite also had a good swimming pool, shop, bar and restaurant, clean washing facilities with plenty of hot water. It was a good stopover for a day on the beach and en-route to our next overnight destination, Siena.
