Paris & Home

We spent the final days of our journey in Paris with friends, a great way to finish off our trip to Croatia. On Friday we found our way to Liz’s by the bus from the campsite that takes you Port Maillot and then from there we used the metro and our feet to get around. We spent Friday with Liz and and she gave us a very nice tour by car around Paris and then when Tony and Miriam arrived we had dinner at Liz’s. On Saturday, we pounded the streets of Paris and according to Liz’s pedometer we walked about 13km, we also took the Batobus to get around from one tourist attraction to another which was great. We saw the Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame, Centre Pompidou, Le Louvre, Jardin des Tuileries, Place de la Concorde and of course the Tour Eiffel. We finished off the day with a lovely meal at the ‘Au Chai de L’Abbaye’ restaurant in St Germain where Tony asked for ketchup and was given his favourite Heinz 57 variety that he then poured all over his Canard Confit!

During the day, Tony noticed that he had lost his diary from his ‘man bag’ and realised that it must have been when he got bumped from behind going down the stairs at the first metro station. If this is the case, the pick pocket would have found two or three girl’s names against every day, (Tony’s gardening customers) so Tony thinks that they are thinking he must be a Gigolo. In his dreams!

We left Paris yesterday lunchtime and arrived home at about 9.00 pm last night. It is hard to believe that we have been away for a whole month, we have travelled 3,398.2 miles, been through 8 countries, visited some fabulous and iconic places and would highly recommend Croatia to everyone. It is a great country to explore, the scenery has been amazing and we would really like to go back and explore Krk and Cres Islands and of course Plitvice Lakes.

It’s always good to come home, we have missed family and friends but will not hesitate to carry on with our adventures around Europe by Campervan! The driving for us is as much a part of the highlight as well as discovering some wonderful places and meeting interesting people along the way.

Our Autocruise Quartet has been fabulous and I will be doing a round up of the campsites we have used, the campervan, what we used to access the internet, the routes and some useful hints and tips in my final post for this blog later on in the week!
